About the artist:
Cats are at the heart of Japanese artist Osamu’s work. He’s dedicated his craft to sculpting cats—so much so that he calls himself a "cat prototype artist."
Born in 1965, Osamu decided early on that cats would be his lifelong artistic focus.
His early works had an impressionistic feel, featuring wide-eyed cats that looked like they had stepped out of a ukiyo-e print, curiously watching the world. Over time, his style evolved into realism. Now, his sculptures capture cats in all their moods—sometimes wide-eyed and alert, sometimes peacefully dozing—almost as if his early painted felines had leapt into reality.
