About the work:
"The Child of Bobo" is a piece from Akishi's 10th anniversary exhibition "DECAGON." The anniversary exhibition includes a retrospective of his previous solo exhibitions. This piece combines the image of Bobo, first introduced in the solo exhibition "Traces of the Rainbow," with Ueda's iconic child figure.
"... I think they are some sort of messengers. When I pick it up and hold it in my hand, they begin to alternately look at me and the place where he once stood."
-- (Excerpt from the story "Bobo" in the solo exhibition "Traces of the Rainbow")
Bobo is a mysterious being that gathers at "traces of where something once existed." They die if their feet touch the ground, so they always sit on their tails.
