From the artist:
When making the prototype of Fujin (god of wind) more than 30 years ago, I did not expect that Fujin could be made into a bronze statue one day. I have always been obsessed with the color and texture of bronze. Looking closely at the bronze statue of Fujin in front of me brought me an excitement that I hadn't had for a long time. In the Buddhist worldview spread to Japan, Fujin and Raijin (god of thunder) were defined as evil parts when they fought against the twenty-eight tribes. Although Fujin was brave and good at fighting, he finally surrendered and swore to become the patron saint of Buddhism. I think this explanation is too far-fetched. They have been a symbol of natural belief in Japan since ancient times. So I fantasized that they had never lost the fight with the Buddhist gods and made the concept of Fujin. A few years ago, I added the head of King Maharoga to the scene to represent the fierce battle between them. "The force of nature can bring prosperity, but also can bring disaster”, it is completely different from the religious concept of "believe in me, and you will be saved".
